Quench ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Quench mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By using Quench, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and username. You may optionally provide a phone number, bio, and profile photo (avatar).

Authentication Data

We support email/password signup and Google OAuth. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not store your Google password.

Drink Rankings and Activity

We store the drinks you rank, your sentiment ratings (Good, Fine, Bad), numeric scores, notes you write about drinks, and the order of your ranked lists. We also store activity events such as when you add a drink to your list.

Photos

You may upload photos of drinks. Photos are stored in our cloud storage. You can add captions, dates, and tag other users in your photos. EXIF metadata (such as camera model and GPS coordinates) is not intentionally stored or displayed by the Service.

Social Interactions

We collect data about your social activity on the platform, including follows, follow requests, likes, and comments. This data is used to power the social feed, notifications, and community features.

Automatically Collected Information

We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as page views, device type, and general geographic region. This data does not identify you personally and is used solely to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service, including drink rankings, social feed, and community features
• To authenticate your identity and manage your account
• To display your activity to users who follow you (or to all users if your account is public)
• To calculate and display community average scores for drinks
• To send you in-app notifications about follows, likes, comments, and tags
• To improve and optimize the Service based on aggregated usage patterns

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Your data is stored in Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and the application is hosted on Vercel. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
• Other users: Your profile information, drink rankings, photos, comments, and likes may be visible to other users of the Service depending on your privacy settings. If your account is set to private, only approved followers can see your activity.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encrypted database storage and authentication services hosted in the United States (East US). Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only modify their own data. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Update your profile information at any time through the app
• Delete individual drink rankings, photos, comments, and notes
• Delete your account and all associated data. Account deletion functionality is available in the app. You may also contact us to request full deletion of your data.
• Control your visibility by setting your account to private, which restricts your activity to approved followers only

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Quench uses cookies to maintain your authentication session. These are essential cookies required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We use Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymous usage data without using cookies for tracking purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

Quench is intended for users aged 17 and older. The Service involves ranking alcoholic beverages and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 17. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 17, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
